Genrebegrebet og retorisk kritik

Genrebegrebet står centralt i nyere retorisk teori. Det er derfor naturligt, at det også spiller en væsentlig rolle i retorisk kritik. Men hvilken rolle skal genrebegrebet spille i den kritiske praksis? I denne artikel opridser Lisa Storm Villadsen hovedtrækkene i denne diskussion, som den er foregået i det amerikanske retorikmiljø, og med udgangspunkt i synspunkter fra Bakhtin, Todorov og Burke giver hun et bud på genrebegrebets funktion i retorisk kritik.
